Types of Therapy with Julia Rasnake, LCSW-C
I am a licensed and board certified clinical social worker (LCSW-C) in Maryland. I’ve worked with hundreds of clients coping with all types of mental health difficulties. I tailor all of my services to meet your needs and preferences. Read on to see a few specific types of therapy interventions you can take part in with me.
- Trauma-Informed Therapy. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, and I am also trained in TF-CBT (Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), which is an extremely effective treatment if you’re dealing with mental health changes and have gone through something scary, shocking, abusive, or threatening. Learn more about TF-CBT here.
- Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). I can help you learn mindfulness strategies to calm your body, reconnect to the present moment, and handle stress differently. This can have great impacts for your overall health.
- Insight Therapy. With training in compassion focused therapy, parts work, and psychodynamic approaches, we can explore, unravel, and rebuild together, unpacking core beliefs and healing parts of yourself that have been harmed or rejected.
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), where we will work to accept all aspects of ourselves, while figuring out how to create effective changes for a more fulfilling life. I also am well-versed with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I can help you explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviors, and help you learn to approach stressors in the healthiest way for you.
- Motivational Interviewing. This style of therapy helps you determine what your most important goals are, overcome challenges, identify action steps, and change your life the way you’ve always hoped you could.
Other Specialties:
Creative Therapy. I love to incorporate creative interventions into therapy. A lifelong creative myself, I have seen how changing the medium we use to communicate can unlock deep, life-changing truths for individuals, and give us a new perspective on how we can visualize and understand our inner selves, especially if we have experienced trauma. If it fits your needs, I provide space in therapy for exploring thoughts and feelings through drawing, writing, storytelling, and meditative techniques.*
Nature Therapy. I also offer nature-based services and incorporate aspects of ecotherapy. As an active Maryland Master Naturalist volunteer and Certified Permaculture Designer, I have a strong knowledge about and connection to our local environment. Seeing ourselves as part of our ecosystem can provide grounding and direction, and the mental health benefits offered by time in nature are many and well documented. If this is an area of interest for you, check out my group therapy options.
* (Please note, I am an LCSW-C with continuing education training in art and creative therapy techniques, but I am NOT a LCPAT (Licensed Clinical Professional Art Therapist); for more info on LCPATs, click here.
